When you venture into nature, you demand a lot from yourself and your equipment. Good clothing and sturdy shoes are, of course, a must, as you will often be on narrow and slippery paths. Naturally, you handle your equipment carefully, but a fall can happen quickly, and you better protect your gear well.

Camera Bag for Nature Photography

First of all, a camera bag is an indispensable accessory for every photographer. They come in all shapes and sizes, depending on your needs and preferences. For nature photographers, we always recommend a sturdy backpack. You wear it on your back, allowing you to distribute the weight evenly over both shoulders, which you will really notice on a long hike. Also handy: a backpack makes you less wide than, for example, a shoulder bag that you carry beside you, and you have both hands free. Just be careful when bending down for low-hanging branches; a well-fitting bag often feels so comfortable that you forget you’re wearing it, and you may need to bend down a bit further to avoid getting caught!

Mindshift Backlight 36L for Nature Photography

The Mindshift Backlight 36L is an ideal camera backpack for outdoor photographers looking for optimal comfort and ease of use. The bag has space for one or two DSLR cameras, four to six lenses, a flash, and extra camera accessories. Moreover, you can easily access your equipment through the back of your bag. This provides an extra sense of security. You can rotate the bag from your back to your front using the waist strap, allowing you to tilt the bag and grab your camera without having to set the bag down. The large front pocket of the MindShift Backlight has a capacity of 11L and is ideal for storing, for example, your jacket.

F-stop Tilopa

The all-round F-Stop Tilopa is perfect for photographers who travel a lot and carry large amounts of equipment. The Tilopa is sturdy, versatile, and has a smart design with extra pockets. In addition to two comfortable shoulder straps, the backpack also has a strap with a quick release over the chest for extra stability. The Tilopa provides quick access to your equipment, and thanks to the internal aluminum frame, you can carry extra weight. Besides your camera and lenses, you can also store essentials like food and drinks in your bag. To customize your bag to your liking, F-stop has developed several sizes of ICUs that are sold separately.

Tripod for Nature Photography

Using a tripod prevents motion blur that can occur when shooting handheld. It also allows you to take beautiful long-exposure shots. Which tripod is right for you? There is no definitive answer to that. Just like when choosing a good camera, lens, or camera bag, you need to consider your needs when purchasing a tripod. Are you traveling or going into nature? Then you want a light and compact tripod: think carbon fiber. The downside of a light (travel) tripod is that they are generally a bit shorter and provide less load capacity.

3 Legged Think Punks Brian

The 3 Legged Thing Punks Brian is a true travel tripod. It is designed to be both lightweight and compact, yet stable enough for large cameras with long lenses. In the regular spread angle of the legs, it has a load capacity of 14 kilograms; at other spread angles, the load capacity decreases. The rubber knobs for adjusting the leg sections improve grip and provide good protection for your hands in cold or warm weather. The Brian is versatile, durable, and strong. Thanks to the reversible center column, you can easily get started with macro photography. Additionally, one of the legs of the Punks Brian is removable to be used as a monopod.

An alternative to a tripod can be a rice or sandbag. It is ideal for flying vacations. After all, you can take a small empty bag with you and fill it at your destination. You have rice and sandbags in various shapes and sizes. The V-shape (trouser model) is specially designed for placement on the edge of a car window or the window of a viewing hut.

The Caruba rice bag in V-shape is made of strong water-repellent material and can be filled with, for example, rice, beans, or sand.

More Accessories for Nature Photography

In addition to these basic accessories, there are countless small (but important) accessories available for nature photography. For example, think of a waist bag to store your phone and cards, a rain cover for when the weather is not cooperating, or a hard case for your memory cards. The perfect protection for your precious photos!

The Caruba Multi Card Case is suitable for four Compact Flash (CF) cards or eight SD memory cards.

Solar Powerbank 20,000mAh

In nature, you certainly don’t want to run out of power. With the Powerbank external battery, available at saake-shop.nl, you have the most powerful Powerbank battery at the moment. The Powerbank has a capacity of no less than 20,000mAh. This can charge devices like your smartphone and GoPro multiple times, and fortunately, also the battery of your camera. All you need is a battery charger with a USB connection. The powerbank also works on solar energy, allowing you to charge devices even when you are truly in the middle of nowhere. Most action cameras have a direct connection to the Powerbank, allowing you to charge them directly without the need for a battery charger. The device has 2 USB ports, allowing you to charge two devices simultaneously.

Nature Photography: Playing Hide and Seek

Spotting animals depends on who spots first. If you walk through the forest in your brightly colored t-shirt, whistling, you won’t see any deer, wild boar, or any other shy animal. However, if you wear camo clothing and keep yourself completely still, the chances will be significantly greater. Do you really want to play hide and seek well? Then take a look at the accessories below.

Bresser Y-21 Camouflage Tent

The Bresser Y-21 is a foldable camouflage tent that provides the ideal protection to make perfect nature shots without disturbance. The tent measures 100cm wide and 150cm high (so it’s good to sit in). It has a large zippered door and a viewing/opening window. With a handy movement, the tent can be folded down to a size of only 60cm in diameter.

HBN Chameleon Camouflage Net Luxe

There are camouflage nets and camouflage nets. Most nets are very coarse, open, snag easily, and are made of hardening plastic. We now come with a version that eliminates these disadvantages; the chameleon camouflage net. The strong net is made on a base of black fine mesh fabric over which the soft and perfectly camouflaging 3D leaf structure is made. The black base ensures that your face is even more concealed. The net is ideal for hanging between trees or bushes or quickly throwing over yourself, but also as extra camouflage for your hide. Due to the fine structure, the net does not keep snagging on your tripod and such. The camouflage net comes in the well-known handy carrying bag.
